MEET NYASHA ZIMUCHA

Nyasha Zimucha an Entrepreneur, TV Personality, Singer/Dancer and Humanitarian. With South African and Zimbabwean heritage, she has a passion for Africa the continent she once represented as Miss Africa USA.

Her unique background includes teen beginnings in entertainment as a professional dancer with various pop acts, competition groups and TV shows. After studying Communications & Business at Bridgewater College, Nyasha further explored the entertainment world as a spokes model for brands like Boost Mobile and Motive Cosmetics.

She's appeared on WEtv as a judge on the original series ‘Little Miss Perfect’ for two seasons, as well as a beauty and image consultant. In almost 10 years, she has done various radio, TV hosting and appearance spots in Africa and the US including E!, SABC, MTV networks, and BBC World.

During her reign as Miss Africa USA 2009 she made over 200 appearances including the Super bowl, building homes with Habitat for Humanity, worked with the UN Consulate General, attended President Obama’s Inauguration Purple Ball, and was a spokesperson for Russell Simmon’s ‘Diamond Empowerment Fund. She’s appeared in magazines like Glamour, Forbes Africa, Destiny, J’Dore and Grazia.

In 2010 she was named “One of the Top Ten Visionaries of the year” by New York based African Mag — list included Alicia Keys, Tyler Perry, and Dambisa Moyo. As the story unfolds 3 years later Forbes Africa magazine noted Nyasha as "The Crowned Princess of African Hair" referring to her socially conscious business models success in the hair industry. She became the youngest and first ever black, African, female business owners to partner with one of the largest department stores chains on the continent in 2012.

After a successful start in America she did the unlikely, and moved from New York City to Johannesburg, where she took on the task of international expansion for 2 years. Her business, Embrace Your Hair is a hair accessories fashion brand that is sold in 30 stores in the US and Africa.

The company's social platform gives free hair solutions to Breast Cancer survivors in need, through the MHYH program she created. Her products have also been featured on the runways of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week NY for 4 years, where she worked with designers like Zang Toi and Mara Hoffman creating stylish runway hair looks on one of the biggest runways in fashion. Through starting, developing and expanding her own brand, Nyasha has travelled extensively in Asia, Europe and Africa, and now holds offices in Cape Town and New York City.

Her broad professional, social and travel experiences influence her knowledge in global pop culture, entrepreneurship, and the beauty industry. Amidst her busy schedule she is also speaks at conferences like Summit Series along with being an expert/guest contributor for magazines like US Weekly, People South Africa, Cosmo, and morning talk shows like Espresso Live in South Africa.

When asked about her future goals she said, “My biggest passion is making women feel good, and that pertains to business, beauty and various global issues. I strive to bring clarity where there is misconception in the beauty industry. Africa is such an undiscovered gem and my hope is to be able to shed light on the potential there is in terms of partnerships for women and business development. Connecting the worlds I work in, I aim to learn more and pay it forward."
